ART
Archive Retention Time describes the period of time which was specified as the lifecycle for a file in the archive.
BRT
Backup Retention Time describes the period of time which was specified as the lifecycle for a file in backup (NCDP).
CAS
Content Addressable Storage describes the definite access potential for files which are safeguarded with a generated hash code.
Guided Restore
Guided Restore describes the intuitive and simple operation necessary to restore date (assistance via a graphic interface).
HSM
Hierarchical Storage Management describes data storage on multiple levels. These levels may be virtual or comprise physical memory media.
JBOD
Just a Bunch of Disks - native hard drive storage space (possibly with RAID functionality).
NCDP
Near Continuous Data Protection describes the system provided by the gingcom appliance. Here altered data, e.g. from notebooks which are being monitored by gingcom, is continually transmitted to the appliance. NCDP guarantees extremely high levels of data protection.
RAID
Redundant Array of Independent Disks: a system of multiple hard drives which distributes and stores data as well as multiple security functions such as hot spare disks and distributed parity.
Roll back
"Roll Back" designates the process whereby a system or file is restored to an earlier version.
RPO
Restore Point Objective describes the period of time which was selected for a "Roll Back" procedure.
Versioning
Versioning means that files cannot easily be overwritten, but that access to older versions is maintained.
